Site work is a general term that refers to all the land preparation that must be accomplished before the actual building is constructed. Before the first layer of concrete is poured for the foundation, the site needs to be cleared, leveled and graded. Underground utilities must be laid, the construction entrance needs to be built and stabilized, and any deep stumps or roots should be removed before they cause future interference.

Sometimes an existing structure sits on the property, and demolition and/or excavation must proceed before any other work can be done. Our fleet of machinery leaves us well-equipped to handle demolitions and to remove and recycle the remnant materials.

Other landscaping needs also fall under the heading of site work. Water flow on the property is often of great concern, and our team can dig retention or detention ponds to either permanently hold or simply slow the outflow of water after a heavy rain. We grade all the surrounding land to direct the flow of water into the pond.

Once the construction of the building is complete, we can help put the finishing touches on the project by cleaning up any leftover construction debris, restoring the construction entrance, and performing any other final tasks that will leave you, our customer, wholly satisfied with the final product.

Dirt work is the first step in building any new construction. It is literally laying the foundation for the foundation! The ground must be prepared appropriately in order to avoid shifting ground (which can crack the concrete foundation), rainwater drainage problems, and tree roots that get in the way of underground utilities.

Here is just a small sample of the many applications of dirt work:

  • Land clearing. Land clearing removes all vegetation from the topsoil. This may include tree removal as well, and when followed up with root raking and stump removal, the likelihood of plants growing back in the area diminishes. Land clearing is useful not only for preparing a building site, but for clearing hunting trails, preventing the spread of forest fires in at-risk areas, creating easements and even clearing land that is intended for a farm, garden or orchard.

  • Land grading. There’s a reason why houses and barns are built on a property’s highest point: they are less likely to flood in heavy rains. But when the property has no natural hills or is in a low-lying area to begin with, land grading ensures that the water flows away from the building pad or foundation and helps to stabilize the soil. Whether you’re planning a to build a house, barn, garage or shed, proper land grading will save you from many headaches in the future.

  • Berms, swales, retention ponds and detention ponds. Once water moves moves away from buildings thanks to land grading, you may wish to conserve that water or to help it flow into a pond where it won’t leave a soggy mess on your entire property. Creating these channels and ponds requires moving dirt, and at Tex Con Construction, dirt work is one of our specialties. Let us help you create these berms, swales, retention ponds and/or detention ponds with our efficient machinery and knowledgeable team.

  • Creating a construction entrance or driveway. Dirt work is also useful for creating a construction entrance or preparing the land for a new driveway. This involves clearing the land of vegetation, packing down the soil and grading it if necessary to prepare it for gravel and heavy loads.

Tex Con Construction has the equipment and knowledge to assist at any stage of construction, from start to clean-up.

One of the first steps that must be taken when preparing a new building site is laying the underground utilities. These include sanitary sewers, storm drainage, fire lines, potable water pipes, gas lines, electric wires, fiber optic cables and lift stations or pumping stations.

Our team can excavate for new lines or pipes to be put in at a construction site, and we can also repair burst pipes, etc., or install new lines on an existing site, such as water lines for a sprinkler system.

We have a variety of materials at our disposal in order to create long-lasting utilities that won’t need to be dug up and repaired for quite a long time. We regularly use SDR, SCH, PVC, HDPE, RCP pipes, among others for diverse projects.

Give us a call to talk about how we can assist you!

Tex Con Construction offers carefully coordinated demolition and deconstruction services. Deconstruction involves removing materials by hand in order to preserve them for reuse or recycling, such as decorative features, copper from pipes and wires, PVC pipes, tiles, bricks, etc.

When it’s time for demolition, the gutted building is razed via machinery or explosives. Of course, safety is paramount during the demolition process, protecting surrounding buildings from damage.

The vast majority of materials hauled away from a demolition site can be reused or recycled. After some site preparation, the area will be ready for a brand-new construction.

When there is a large amount of dirt, rock or other materials that need to be removed for a construction, an excavation team should be your go-to choice. These materials can be removed with heavy machinery, hand tools or explosives, depending on what the situation warrants.

Excavation allows tunnels to be bored, new roads to be leveled, and foundations to be dug. Contrary to what one might think, excavation can also be done in a careful, environmentally-friendly way in order to promote water retention and to avoid disturbing wildlife habitats.

If you’re not sure whether you need excavation, site preparation, site work, dirt work, etc., don’t worry: just give us a call to discuss your needs!

Industrial buildings tend to look simple on the outside, but inside is a complex structure that is completely unique, made to suit a very specific purpose. Factories, for example, are designed to be efficient, and believe it or not, that efficiency starts with the quality of the concrete foundation, floor and sub-levels.

Installing industrial concrete requires extraordinary attention to detail and a dash of creativity, but Tex Con Construction rises to the challenge. From factories to warehouses to water treatment plants and beyond, we have the expertise to get the job done right.

Tex Con Construction specializes in completing large-scale projects on-time, on-budget and with exceptional quality.

The commercial sphere encompasses buildings and complexes like shopping malls, strip malls or retail spaces, restaurants, medical facilities and hospitals, office buildings, sports stadiums, educational campuses, religious spaces, auto shops and more.

Commercial construction requires the perfect marriage between form and function. Concrete forms the solid foundation and walls for these commercial buildings, but also can be used in a decorative way for floors and exterior walls, as well as architectural statement pieces.

Structural concrete is long-lasting and durable thanks to a network of rebar embedded in the concrete. Together, these two materials have high tensile strength and are more versatile as a team than they are alone.

Tex Con Construction harnesses the power of concrete and rebar to build sturdy high-rises and structures such as bridges, staircases, parking garages, ramps and stadiums. Large buildings that are several stories high also fall under this category, such as hotels, office buildings or apartments.

Whatever the purpose of a building or structure, trust the Tex Con team to ensure it is durable and completed on time, even in adverse conditions.

Whether you need old infrastructure repaired or want the peace of mind to know that new infrastructure is high-quality and backed by our guarantee, let us show you why thousands of residential, industrial and commercial clients in the Houston area have trusted Tex Con Construction.

Let Tex Con Construction be your go-to resource for all concrete services. We provide full turnkey service for your structural concrete needs. From selecting the best concrete mixture to the scientific process of concrete finishing, we understand concrete.

Commercial concrete construction must not only be durable, but also attractive and easy to care for. Our commercial clients include hospitals and other medical facilities, offices and shopping centers, where form is just as important as function.

Residential concrete serves multiple purposes, from being purely functional (such as a sturdy and water-resistant foundation) to purely decorative (such as stamped concrete siding). Of course, there are also plenty of residential concrete pouring applications that settle somewhere in the middle, including sidewalks, driveways and patios that need to not only hold up to regular wear and tear, but also need to add that coveted curb appeal.

Industrial concrete requires rigorous attention to detail from the very beginning, starting with the admixtures included in the dry concrete. Tex Con Construction rises to this challenge with ease, as we hold ourselves to high standards regardless of the type of project. Warehouses and manufacturing facilities all have different needs when it comes to the thickness and strength of the concrete, right down to the final details in the non-slip finishes that are needed in these industrial spaces. We are experienced in pour and finish installation and tilt wall industrial structures.

Whether your construction requires a simple concrete building pad or a complex concrete foundation and frame, call us today to get started.
